I became interested in quilting when I observed a lady doing English Paper Piecing at my son’s baseball game about 15 years ago. I went to my nearest quilt store, and with guidance from the store staff, bought a book, several fat quarters, and hand pieced my first sampler quilt. In 2002 I purchased a Gammill Optimum long arm machine and worked mainly with pantograph patterns.
In the summer of 2012 I had my machine retrofitted with a Statler Stitcher. This was turning into a very serious hobby! I have made many quilts for family, friends, and many charitable organizations as well as raffle items for local conferences.
I love traditional quilts, especially applique, but I am very excited about the modern quilt movement and modern quilt art. Such freedom to express creativity! I also love to knit and crochet, and I was thrilled to discover that I can use yarn in my quilts. I look forward to designing and creating my own quilts and quilt art, using yarn, glitter, and fabric paint to embellish…turning the ordinary into the extraordinary!
I live in Texas with my husband. I have three grown children and three dogs; a Chihuahua named Rita; and two Morkies named Rocky and Sammy…my three “creeps.”
